Spring is in full Swing and so are our Market trips!
St Albans on Market Day
Wednesday 24th April 2024
If you’re going to take a day trip to St Albans, it’s a good idea to go on a market day; bringing the city to life with colours, flavours, and sounds.
The market dates back to the 9th century, and it was granted a Royal Charter in 1553. It has over 150 stalls, and they fill St Peter’s Street and Market Place with their wares each week.
Stamford on Market Day & Afternoon Cream Tea on Rutland Water

Off to Stamford we go on Market Day with the stone building lined streets filled with the hustle and bustle of a thriving market.
After lunch we take the short drive to Rutland Water; enjoying a cruise on the Rutland Belle... Rutland Water Cruises is a family-run business operating boat trips since 1986. The vessel plies from Whitwell on the North Shore and calls in at Normanton on the South Shore. You can enjoy the scenery from the water, amidst the sailors, anglers and waterbirds, whilst listening to commentary highlighting points of interest.
Saffron Walden on Market Day

Saffron Walden is a picturesque, medieval town, in north-west Essex, just 15 miles south of Cambridge. It has a rich heritage of old buildings reflecting its wealth as a rural market town.
There are many interesting historic buildings in the town. At the heart lies St Mary’s Church, the largest parish church in Essex. Fine examples of elaborate moulded plasterwork (pargetting), can be seen on the Old Sun Inn and the houses in Castle Street & Bridge Street.
