Day 1 – Arrival & Welcome to Wales
Sit back, relax, and enjoy the journey as we make our way to the Mercure Cardiff North Hotel, your comfortable base for the week ahead. On arrival, you’ll be greeted with refreshments and the convenience of porterage to take care of your luggage.
Settle into your modern, stylish room before joining your fellow travellers for a delicious evening meal in the hotel restaurant – the perfect start to our Welsh adventure!
Day 2 – Cardiff City Tour & The Royal Mint Experience
After a hearty Welsh breakfast, we begin with a guided tour of Cardiff, the dynamic capital of Wales. Discover a city of contrasts – where ancient castles meet modern architecture, and history blends effortlessly with a lively cultural scene.
This afternoon, we visit The Royal Mint Visitor Centre in Llantrisant for a fascinating guided tour. Learn how over 1,000 years of history have shaped the coins in your pocket and watch the intricate process of minting in action.
Return to the hotel to relax before another sumptuous dinner and a cosy evening at leisure.
Day 3 – Caerphilly Castle & St Fagans National Museum of History
Today we step back through the centuries, starting with admission to Caerphilly Castle, one of the largest and most impressive fortresses in Britain. Explore its towering walls, scenic moat, and learn about its role in Welsh medieval history.
In the afternoon, we head to the award-winning St Fagans National Museum of History – a fascinating open-air museum that brings Wales’s past to life. Wander through reconstructed buildings from across the ages, from traditional farmhouses to a Victorian school.
We return to the hotel this evening for dinner and a relaxing night reflecting on a day filled with heritage and wonder.
Day 4 – Brecon Beacons Adventure & Penderyn Whisky Experience
A spectacular day awaits as we journey into the heart of the Brecon Beacons National Park. Enjoy breathtaking views and fresh mountain air as we board the Brecon Mountain Railway for a nostalgic return journey through this stunning landscape aboard a vintage steam train.
Later, we visit the Penderyn Distillery, home of world-famous Welsh whisky, for an exclusive tour and tasting. Learn about the craftsmanship behind each bottle and savour a taste of Wales’s finest spirit.
We then return to Cardiff for our final evening meal at the hotel – a chance to share stories and raise a glass to an unforgettable trip.
Day 5 – Farewell Wales
After a leisurely breakfast, we bid farewell to the Mercure Cardiff North Hotel and begin our journey home, filled with new memories of castles, culture, and countryside charm.
